Let it Snow! Let it Snow? Let it Snow...

We have now used snow day #2 out of 5. As much as I love being home with Madden, I am a little nervous that it technically isn't "Winter" yet and we've used 2 snow days. The weather for the next week doesn't look to pretty either. Hopefully we can get the kids to school safely every day this week. I hate to lose part of our February or April break. It is absolutely beautiful here with all this snow. We woke up to about 10 fresh inches Friday morning and we picked up 6 more during the day. It hasn't stopped snowing today and we have picked up another 6 inches or so. Now, that may sound like we should have 2 feet of snow by now. However, lake effect snow has the tendency to settle after it falls and needless to say we don't have 2 feet on the ground. We did have enough on the roof for Matt to climb out the bedroom windows and shovel off the porch roof.

We went and picked up the Christmas tree yesterday and decorated it today. I thought for sure Madden would love it, but she has paid very little attention to it. I am WAY more excited about the tree than she is. As excited as I am to see her crawl, I am very thankful she isn't mobile yet and I don't have to worry about her being in the tree. I am convinced that she won't crawl. She hates being in her belly and I'm not sure how she'll get on all fours without being on her belly first. Right now she is sitting up really well. She LOVES to sit on the floor and play with her toys. We put pillows around her to catch her when she teeters. She has discovered she can catch herself with her hand instead of doing a full face plant into the floor. So, we're making good progress.

We had a nice 1st Thanksgiving for Madden. We ate at Mom and Dad's first and then headed to Matt's parents for more food and good company. We finished nursing just in time and I was able to eat all the dairy I wanted! It was a pleasant change at first when we stopped nursing. It was nice to let Matt feed her and I could relax or do some house work, but after a couple of weeks, I can't lie, I do miss it. I also miss the physioligical benefits of nursing, if you know what I mean!

Here are some pics of Madden. I'll send pics of her and the tree soon.

Here's Madden and Uncle Andrew reading the paper on Thanksgiving. She was showing him what she wants for Christmas.

What is this face???

I think she learned it from Elyse....

Elyse was at the house the weekend of Thanksgiving and liked my snowman. She is burping him here. He fell on the floor at one point and I caught her saying "Oh, are you alright? Did you get hurt? Where does it hurt? Want me kiss it? There all better." It was too cute. Look at all this hair she has all of a sudden. There's hope for Christian!
